In this stretch of the river the water flows over a bed of volcanic rock. Lakes called gurne are formed along its bed.

The route runs along the Alcantara river for the entire stretch, passing over the lava rocks.
Along it the rapids slow down and accelerate near the small lakes that form.
Both banks of the river are surrounded by trees and Mediterranean vegetation.
Almost at the end of the path you can detour to go and see the second Byzantine-style church, called cuba and dedicated to Santa Domenica in the area.
The first is located near the starting point along the provincial road and is dedicated to San Nicola.
